Carrie Morey started Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit in 2014 in Charleston, SC. Her goal was to share her mother’s tender, buttery biscuits and their unique flavors with the world. Since then, her Southern creations that have been past down through generations have been shared with millions.
Callie’s uses White Lily Flour for their biscuits. This Southern flour uses a lower-protein soft winter wheat compared to your typical flour. According to Callie’s, White Lily makes the very best biscuits.
Our experience at Callie’s Hot Little Biscuits was very positive. The staff was polite, patient and very helpful. There wasn’t much of a line and our order came out fairly quickly. The bakery was clean and food was fresh.
We appreciated how organized the bakery was, the variety of flavors and the option to buy their award-winning biscuit mix.
The biscuits are small, but pack a big punch. They are tan in color with a perfect crumbly-textured appearance. Depending on your choice of biscuit, the flavors are almost popping out at you, daring you to take a bite.
The biscuits are loaded and carry a nice weight for their size. They are crumbly and buttery, as you would expect from a traditional Southern biscuit.
The aromas of the biscuit will vary based on flavor, but you what is constant is the sweet smell of a Southern biscuit that is ripe for any time of day … especially a cheat day.
The first bite is dense and crumbly. It is moist with a wonderfully crafted, traditional biscuit texture. The flavors are well balance with high-quality ingredients.
I don’t claim to be a biscuit connoisseur, but Callie’s biscuits are the kind you dream up when you are jonesing for a biscuit or looking to impress your guest at a dinner table.
Dense and full of flavor. This is a Southern biscuit at its finest.
