Discover Seven Magic Mountains (Las Vegas, NV)

Discover Seven Magic Mountains in Las Vegas, NV

The Seven Magic Mountains consists of seven towering pillars of brightly colored boulders, stacked precariously atop one another. Each totem stands approximately 30 to 35 feet high, with their vivid colors adding a colorful glow to the surroundings desert. The colors used are intentionally artificial, evoking a contrast between natural forms and human intervention.

Seven Magic Mountains is a colorful art installation located in the desert just outside of Las Vegas. Created by renowned Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone, this large-scale artwork consists of seven towering stacks of brightly painted boulders, each standing 30 to 35 feet tall.

The installation was unveiled in May 2016 and quickly became a popular attraction for both locals and tourists. The neon-colored stones were designed to highlight the natural beauty of the desert. The installation was originally intended to be temporary, slated for a two-year run, but due to its popularity, it has been extended multiple times, allowing visitors to continue enjoying this unique installation.

As you enter the parking lot, you’ll see the art from a distance. There are plenty of places to park, some food trucks for refreshments and a vast, open desert. The walk to the Seven Magic Mountains is short, but it’s a decent stroll to burn some calories. Once there, you’ll get up close and personal with the art and true appreciation for it’s size and construction.

While there, you can take some great photos, create your own Magic Mountain with the surrounding rocks or (as you’ll see), leave your mark on the boulders.

Challenge Yourself

Your challenge here is to build your own Magic Mountain with the surrounding rocks. The tallest mountain wins. Good luck.
