Explore the Vessel in New York City

The Vessel is located in Hudson Yards Public Square. It opened on March 15, 2019. Designed by Thomas Heatherwick, the Vessel cost roughly $200 million to construct. This honeycomb structure rises 16 stories, consists of 154 flights of stairs and 2,500 steps. Unfortunately in 2021, the structure closed indefinitely after multiple suicides.

New York City holds many of America’s greatest creations. One of the city’s newest attractions in the Vessel in Hudson Yards. Built March 15, 2019, the honeycomb-like structure was designed by Thomas Heatherwick. It rises 16 stories and consists of 154 flights of stairs, 2,500 steps, and 80 landings for visitors to climb.

In 2021 the Vessel closed indefinitely after multiple suicides. We’ll assume they plan to open in the future and continue on with this article.

The views aren’t going to blow your mind but the creative photo ops will. As you explore the inside of the Vessel you’ll find there are many unique photos that will get your social media page buzzing. One of these photos — which you can still take even now that it’s closed — is the view inside the vessel looking upward. Although you currently can’t explore the Vessel you can still snag some sweet photos.

Tickets are free for the Vessel but you will need to “purchase” them online to reserve your spot. You could also pay $10 for a flex pass that will allow you access at any time during your scheduled day.

Because tickets to the Vessel must be reserved, it will never be overcrowded which is a huge plus. You can take your time exploring without having to jockey for position.

While exploring the Vessel you’ll find locals and tourists alike, as well as the fitness folks out getting a stair workout in.

Enjoy.
