Fitness Gear Review: BOB Revolution SE Single Jogging Stroller

What is it? 

The BOB Revolution SE is an all-terrain stroller built for jogging and outdoor adventures. Its three large rubber tires allow for great maneuverability and to roll with ease. Spacious and rugged, The BOB Revolution SE is built for the active lifestyle.

Review:

The Revolution SE is great for any activity. From a walk on the beach to the city streets. We have used the BOB Revolution SE for quite some time and love what it brings to the table. Because they no longer make this exact model, we’ll use this review to cover the BOB Revolution SE as well as the BOB product as a whole so that this article does not get outdated. 

Comfort and Fit:

The BOB Revolution jogging stroller has a very spacious and comfortable seat. The seat is adjustable, allowing for a comfortable recline for the kiddos. The seat reclines to an angle that isn’t completely flat (tilts back to 70 degrees from vertical), but perfect for the kids to rest safely and relax. Reclining the seat is a little annoying. You need to adjust two straps on each side of the stroller to move the seat. It’s not complicated but other strollers we have used have a one-handed mechanism to adjust the chair — which makes it easier when your other hand is carrying the kid. 

The seat’s five-point harness is very secure and keeps the kid snug and comfortable. If your child likes to find ways to escape the stroller, they won’t have much luck with this one. The straps are adjustable so you can set them to properly to fit your baby or toddler. Release button is placed in the middle and is super easy to unclip.

The Ride:

The ride with the BOB Revolution is extremely smooth. We found that all of the BOB products we have used have exceptional maneuvering and handling through various terrains. The front wheel can either be locked or left to swivel. Locking it in place is ideal for increased stability when jogging or when the terrain turns rough. This makes a dramatic difference when trying to control the stroller. Unlocking the front wheel and allowing it to swivel is ideal when rolling around tight areas or other instances when you need to turn and pivot the stroller. The BOB suspension design is great for comfort on any terrain and gives your child a smooth ride on any journey.

Side note: The BOB Revolution and other strollers with large wheels improve your distance between you and the stroller. This makes it incredibly easy to run with and is great for those with longer strides, such as taller individuals. 

Running:

As mentioned above, it’s best to run with a locked wheel or you risk losing control of the stroller. The stroller rolls like a dream. This is ideal when running because you never want to feel like you are pushing the weight. When running with the BOB Revolution and other BOB strollers you are merely running behind the stroller and can control it with your fingers. 

The handlebar is fine but it’s not perfect. The bar is soft and comfortable but it’s not adjustable. If you are a taller person then an adjustable handlebar is ideal. People who are tall like the bar high … sometimes very high. Not all BOB products are guilty of this design. If you like the ability adjust the bar, make sure you factor this in when purchasing a stroller. Given the option, we much prefer the option to adjust. 

The foot brake is a little incognito. It took us more than a few seconds to identify it. Other foot brakes we have used are a little more identifiable. On the BOB Revolution, the brake is the bar located above the axel. It works great, while very easily manipulated with your foot. 

Storage Space:

Storage in the BOB Revolution and every other BOB strollers we have used are terrific. They have two interior pockets (for drinks, snacks, toys), a seat-back pocket, and a hanging basket underneath for storing everything from food, to blankets, groceries to backpacks. 

Canopy: 

BOB Revolution has big extendable canopy, great for protecting your kiddos from sun or light rain. We have been caught in moderate and heavier rain before and the kids are going to get wet. No canopy in the world will keep them high and dry in those instances. If you’re going out in the rain, be sure to invest in a rain cover. They work magnificently. The canopy provides 125° range of coverage. It provides plenty of cover from the elements and keeps the little ones napping while you are out and about. 

Folding and Storage: 

Folding the BOB Revolution is a two-step process. You will need both hands. Use each hand to squeeze the levers on each side of the handlebar. Fold the stroller forward and pull on the red handle to complete the strollers collapse. It is very easy and very fast. It just requires both hands. A common issue other people have stressed is its inability to stand on its own when fully collapsed. We didn’t really consider this to be an issue for us but understand how others can be annoyed by it. 

The stroller weighs 25lbs. It’s easy to move and fits easily in a trunk. This is important to us as we live in the city and take cabs from time to time. If the BOB does not fit into your trunk, the tires are extremely easy to remove and reassemble. Making this stroller fit is never an issue.
