Review:
As of this review the new Urban Glide 2 has been released. Unless you’re buying the Urban Glide 1 secondhand this review is a little outdated. That being said, the Urban Glide 2 isn’t that much different from its predecessor. This review of the Urban Glide 1 is also an excellent reflection of the entire Thule stroller line. Let’s get into it.
The Thule Urban Glide stroller is an award winning stroller and one of the top all terrain strollers on the market. It is excellent for normal walks around the block, packed city streets or country roads. The quality and design of this stroller make it one of the best and most popular at its price range.
Comfort and Fit:
The seating of the Thule Urban Glide is padded for a comfortable fit with padded straps. The seat is very spacious and reclines to about 70 degrees from vertical. It’s perfect when you need to get your kiddos to sleep and want to keep them comfortable. The seat has a one-hand recline feature that is fantastic. When you have a kid, anything you can pull off with one hand is superior. For the Thule’s, you simply squeeze the clip and adjust accordingly.
The five-point harness secures your precious cargo, while also giving them a comfortable ride. The straps are adjustable and easy to clip in and out of.
The Ride:
The Urban Glide line was built and designed for jogging and handling multiple terrains. Its maneuverability and suspension give the child and the person behind the stroller a smooth, effortless ride. The stroller is so smooth that it almost pushes itself as you jog behind it. Its front wheel can either be locked or left to swivel. Locking it in place is ideal for increased stability when jogging or when handling tough terrain. We have put the Thule Urban Glide through tight spaces in Times Square and open spaces on country roads and it handles like a dream.
Running:
For our purposes, it’s important to cover the running aspects of the stroller. We care more about how it performs in an active lifestyle rather than how it does at the grocery store. So how good is it for running?
It’s perfect.
We could just leave it at that but we’ll dig a little deeper. The Urban Glide rolls very well. It’s super smooth as if it’s floating down the running path. Handling is also top notch. We found that jogging around groups of tourists, bends in country roads and crowded Disney parks were not match for the Thule. It performed above expectations in every scenario. The handle is adjustable, which for taller people, is worth its weight in gold. It adds a level of comfort and — to a lessor extent — control, when running for longer periods of time.
If we had to point out some negatives we would be nitpicking, but let’s do it anyways. The Thule Urban Glide does not come with cupholders or any other easily accessible storage space for the adults. To get that you would have to purchase the Organizer (you can see it in our pictures) separately for $59.95. We’ll list it below. Although it comes at a cost, it’s worth every penny as we never leave home without it. We also noticed the tires lose air a little faster than other strollers that we have used in the past. This is not an issue. It’s simply something we noticed about the tires.
The Foot Brake:
The foot brake is very identifiable and easy to lock and unlock. With a simple flip of your shoe you can safely park the stroller or release it to continue your journey.
Space and Storage:
As mentioned above, the Thule Urban Glide does not come with a storage space for the person pushing the stroller. However, it does have plenty of space in the storage net behind the seat, the carriage under the seat and two net pouches on either side of the child’s seat. While this isn’t convenient if you’re running, the stroller does offer plenty of room for storage in other locations.
Canopy:
If you are new to purchasing a running stroller, do not overlook the canopy. It’s extremely important when trying to keep your kid comfortable, shade them from the sun, protect them from the elements or just keeping them asleep. Make sure you don’t underestimate the importance of a good canopy. The canopy on the Thule Urban Glide is fantastic. Not only does it cover and protect your child but it is completely adjustable from multiple positions. It’s like a moving cloud that can cover your child from every angle. For example, on multiple occasions we have brought the entire canopy down to our kids foot level to act as a shield from strong winds blowing dust and debris. The canopies on Thule strollers are extremely versatile and ones you will come to appreciate.
Folding and Storage:
Folding and storing your Thule Urban Glide is a snap. With one hand, you simply turn the handle (located under the flap at your child’s feet) and the stroller collapses with ease. It’s so simple, smooth and effortless. As an added bonus, the stroller does stand on its own. This is important when storing the stroller but also when trying to get situated and you only have one hand available. It’s a feature every jogging stroller should have.
As for storage, the Thule Urban Glide folds up nicely and can be stored away and concealed with ease. They also fit into most trunks without issues, making it easily portable for hiking and other adventures.

What people are saying
What they like:
“Very easy to push. Rolls with ease. Great suspension for smooth ride. Very durable. Keeps child asleep. Can fold it up or set it up with one arm which is a major plus. A lot of storage. Great canopy. Excellent adjustable handlebar.”
What they don’t like:
“Expensive price tag. Lacks convenient storage compartments for runner. Tires seem to lose air quicker than other comparable strollers.”
Conclusion
The Thule Urban Glide is one of the best all terrain strollers you can buy. At $600 it’s not cheap, but it’s also fairly affordable by comparison. You get what you pay for and the Urban Glide is a top-of-the-line stroller that will make pushing your child feel effortless. It’s made extremely well, holds up in every condition, has plenty of storage (it acts as our “trunk” when we are grocery shopping around NYC) and handles like a dream. Our favorite features are the adjustable handle bar (which is incredible) and the option and ability of opening and closing the stroller with one hand. We love the Thule stroller line and recommend them for anyone looking for a more active stroller.
