Review:
When lifting weights, especially heavy weights, grip can be a limiting factor for people. If grip isn’t an issue then you don’t need straps or Gripps. When deadlifting, for instance, you’re gripping the bar and pulling it from the floor. The heavier the bar gets, the harder it will be to hold onto it as you pull. This is where Versa Gripps come into play. Versa Gripps wrap comfortably around your wrists and lay over your hand. The padding wraps with your hand around the barbell or dumbbell for an extremely secure and comfortable grip. By comparison to traditional straps, Versa Gripps provide the same improved grip without the whole processes of wrapping and ratcheting the straps around the bar.
We think Versa Gripps are an excellent tool for improving your grip during lifts. From our experience, we love the build quality and how comfortable it is on your hands and wrists. Because the pad can flap back and forth, it’s easy to free your hands while still having the Versa Gripps attached. We found that the Versa Gripps worked better for us during pulling exercises like deadlifts, bent over rows and seated rows. While they work fine with overhead presses and bench press, we just don’t think they are necessary for those movements and found them a little distracting. However, if you want to use them for your bench or press then go for it and crush it. It just comes down to personal preference.
Final Thought:
We absolutely recommend Versa Gripps as they are some of the best in the industry and are beloved by many trainers and athletes. Grip strength is a major issue for a lot of people and the design and construction of the Vera Gripps helps take that out of the equation. However, full disclosure, I typically like the feel of the bar on my hands — directly on my hands. So when I lift I like to use chalk or liquid chalk as it reduces friction and still maintains the feeling of skin to bar. This is just a personal preference of mine. I love Versa Gripps and use them often, but my personal preference is always chalk.

What people are saying
What they like:
“By improving grip, you’re able to improve strength. Grip no longer an issue. Very comfortable around the wrist and during the exercise. Slip-free technology locks in grip. Upgrade from traditional gloves and straps.”
What they don’t like:
“If you prefer your wrist straps a little loose, they move a bit during your exercise. Selecting the correct size is an issue for some people. Very expensive.”
Conclusion
We found that the Versa Gripps are an excellent tool for improving your grip during lifts. We have a few clients that struggle to lift because the pain on their hands distracts them. Regardless of your limitation, Versa Gripps do a great job fixing the issue. We personally love the performance of them as do many trainer friends of ours. We definitely recommend them if your grip limits you during workouts.
