Chef's Note

Owner Candace Nelson has quite a few tricks up her sleeve when it comes to baking her popular Sprinkles cupcakes. She suggests bringing all dairy, including milk, to room temperature before baking. This will improve the texture and flavor of your cupcakes. Another trick she recommends for improved flavor is making sure you splurge on two big ingredients: high-quality vanilla extract and chocolate. She prefers Nielsen Massey vanilla and Valrhona, Callebaut or Tcho chocolate.

Experience

Our experiences at Sprinkles Cupcakes are always positive. The bakeries are always very clean and tidy. The cupcakes are presented incredibly well with a level of classiness to them. The staff are very nice and very attentive.

Review

Appearance

Their cupcakes are very sharp looking. Sprinkles uses the word sophisticated to describe their cupcakes and we think that describes them perfectly. A well baked, well decorated cupcakes that is dressed to the nines. The iconic icing swirl and unmistakable modern dot on each cupcake creation lets you know it’s a Sprinkles Cupcake.

Touch

Sprinkles cupcakes have a nice weight to them. They are dense and standard size. The icing is smooth and the cake is soft yet firm.

Smell

The cupcakes have a hint of sweet icing and freshly baked cake. There is not any one distinguishable smell other than the aroma of fresh cupcakes. That’s all you really need.

Taste

Everything lines up to be a great cupcake. They are fresh, they look great, many flavors to choose from, the icing is wonderfully done, but something misses the mark.

When you first bite into a Sprinkles Cupcake you get a nice ratio of icing and cake. The flavors are on point and please the taste buds. Everything is what you’d expect and then it hits you … they are a little dry. We’ve had many cupcakes in our lifetime but our favorite are moist and full of flavor. A dry cupcake, even slightly, throws off the entire thing. We tried several flavors and each one was just a little too dry for us. Not to say they were not good, they were, but they weren’t perfect. All of that being said, Sprinkles looks great and is definitely a nice choice when you’re jonesing for a cupcake on your cheat day.

What to Tell Your Friends

Classy and sophisticated, these cupcakes were made to impress. They are one of the world’s first cupcake companies and own the world’s first ever cupcake ATM. Flavors are of many but they could be a little dry for your taste. Nonetheless, good cupcakes.
