Human beings are motivated by very few things in life. But there are 13 things that will make you move. These 13 things bring a deeper value and meaning to you, more than any other thing in your life. These 13 things operate on a different frequency and when they are activated, will motivate you to achieve anything.
The key to motivation is finding the following factors that mean the most to you and harnessing them. Some of the 13 won’t apply because they are temporary motivators such as hunger and thirst, but others will apply to you. Find which one means the most to you in your life right now, highlight it and let it drive you every day.
- Hunger – When you are hungry, you’re motivated to eat. Nothing else matters.
- Thirst – When you are thirsty, you’re motivated to drink. Nothing else matters.
- Fear of Death – The fear of dying is an uber motivator for you. Starring down the idea of death will make anyone take action.
- Beauty – Almost everyone cares about their outward appearance and how they look is a huge motivating factor.
- Sex – The root of good and evil, sex is a massive motivating factor for human beings.
- Status – How you are perceived by others and where you stand in society motivates you.
- Identity – Your character and personality as an individual is important and thus motivating to you.
- Respect – Your level of respect to a standard set by yourself, your family or other institution that you hold in high regard motivates you.
- Honor – Reputation and public esteem that upholds your integrity as a person.
- Shame – The emotion of guilt or disgrace towards yourself, family or friends is a motivating factor for people to take action.
- Love – You are motivated to do anything in the name of love. Finding love, securing love, appealing to love, feeling love is a major motivating factor for you.
- Enjoyment – Finding satisfaction and enjoyment, being happy and having a good time is something you strive for and motivates you to work towards.
- Community – Being a part of something, a group with a common interest, feeling of belonging and fellowship keeps us showing up and staying motivated.
Motivation is temporary so it’s important for you to find your purpose and reason for all of this. Your purpose will carry you much further and is much more sustainable.
