What We Know From Last Week
By 9:25 p.m., the gym doors were locked.
Staff began their normal closing checks.
Until the locker room check.
One locker stood open.
Inside:
• A purse
• A gym bag
• A folded hoodie
• Underwear placed neatly on the shelf
At the base of the locker, her shoes sat side by side.
The shower at the far end of the room was still running.
“Ma’am? We’re closed.”
No answer.
Steam filled the stall.
The glass door was fogged.
When they slid it open —
no one was there.
Water still falling.
A watch ticking on the shower shelf.
And drawn in the steam, from the inside:
An upside-down smiley face.
The doors were locked.
she was gone.

The Locker Room Disappearance: Part 1
The water kept running.
For a moment, neither employee said anything.
Steam drifted slowly toward the ceiling while the watch on the shower shelf ticked quietly beside the falling water.
One of them finally reached forward and turned the handle.
The water stopped.
The room fell silent.
They stepped back toward the locker.
Inside sat a purse. A gym bag. A folded hoodie.
And beneath them — placed neatly on the shelf — her underwear.
At the base of the locker, her shoes sat side by side.
No one leaves the gym naked and barefoot.
Not past the front desk. Not out into the March cold.
“The Smiley Face”
“Did someone forget their stuff?” one of them asked.
The other shook their head.
“I checked the lobby. No one left.”
Still, they searched the building.
Studio A.
Empty.
Studio B.
Empty.
The spin room was dark.
Every treadmill had already powered down for the night.
They checked the bathrooms.
Nothing.
They checked the offices.
Nothing.
When they returned to the locker room, the watch was still sitting on the shower shelf.
Ticking.
One of the employees picked it up.
It wasn’t cheap.
Heavy. Polished.
The kind people don’t forget.
She turned it over.
Two letters were engraved on the back.
L.M.
Neither of them recognized the initials.
“Maybe it’s a member,” one said.
So they went to the front desk.
Every member scans in.
Every visit is recorded.
They pulled up the evening log.
6:02 p.m.
6:18 p.m.
7:01 p.m.
7:47 p.m.
8:12 p.m.
Then the final scan of the night.
9:18 p.m.
No missing entries.
No guest passes.
No one with the initials L.M.
They checked the membership database.
Still nothing.
Then footsteps echoed down the hallway.
Another employee appeared around the corner, moving quickly.
“You guys need to see this.”
They looked up.
“What?”
“I was checking the men’s locker room.”
He paused.
“There’s another one.”
“Another what?”
“The smiley face.”
The two employees exchanged a look.
“In the men’s shower,” he said. “Drawn in the steam. Same as the one in here.”
For a moment, no one spoke.
Then he added one more detail.
“And there’s a bracelet caught in the drain.”
“A bracelet?”
He nodded.
“Looks like a woman’s.”
Now the room was quiet again.
The locker still held her purse.
Her shoes still waited on the floor.
And now the same strange drawing had appeared in the men’s locker room too.
Which meant one of two things.
Either someone had been moving through both locker rooms that night…
Or there was more than one person involved.
What We Know So Far
• A woman’s belongings were found in the locker room
• Her clothes and shoes were left behind
• The shower was running, but the stall was empty
• A watch engraved “L.M.” was left behind
• A second upside-down smiley face appeared in the men’s shower
• A woman’s bracelet was found caught in the drain
• The gym doors were already locked
And according to the system…
she never entered the building.
